Miami Valley community pulls together 5,800 lbs of tabs

Kids holding buckets of pull tabs to dump in the large collection

The 11th annual Tab-a-PULL-ooza is the prime example of what happens when a community “pulls” together for a greater cause! Schools, groups, and individuals from the Miami Valley region and beyond hauled in nearly 5,800 pounds of pull tabs. That’s 200 pounds more than last year worth nearly $2,400. To put it in perspective, the salvage value of those pull tabs could cover the cost of detergent for over 1,000 loads of laundry for families at the House and Family Room.

RMHC gives a shout out to USI Insurance for volunteering their time to weigh the community’s collection as well as to First Street Recycling for donating their recycling services to this program.

If you forgot to drop by, you can always donate your tabs to the House at 555 Valley Street, or save them for the 12th Annual Tab-a-PULL-ooza on May 19, 2018. Let’s all meet again next year and “pull together” for families with sick or injured children in the hospital.

Each year, the community raises nearly $16,000 in pull tab donations alone. That’s a lot of tabs! Remember, small and large pull tab houses for your collection are available for purchase at the House. Start your collections NOW!
