(As told by Ms. Beasley)
When my baby girl was born, she wasn’t thriving and no one knew why. We were sent to Dayton Children’s NICU, and it was one of the hardest things to go through. Thankfully we were able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. It gave me some peace to know I had a place to go to get a meal, shower and sleep that was right there. I also had two older children that were able to come to the House and have some one-on-one time with mom because this was all equally hard on them.
My sweet baby wouldn’t eat and had to have so many tests done, so we were there for 30 days. Thankfully we finally made progress and were able to take her home though they still didn’t know why or what happened to her. She was eating and making head way! We finally found out what was wrong 5 months later. She was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. Now, she is making progress and is almost 2 years old!
We are forever grateful for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton because you made a heart breaking time a little more comfortable.
Thank you so much and keep doing what you’re doing.
