Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are designed to provide a place to rest and regroup without leaving the hospital. The goal is to allow caregivers to quickly take care of their needs so they can focus all of their energy and attention back where it belongs: on their children.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR) inside Emmett’s Place at Miami Valley Hospital is located right outside of the NICU on the First Floor in the Women’s Berry Center.
The grand opening for the RMFR has held on Oct. 1, 2017, one year Emmett Mikael Sorensen was born. Emmett was born prematurely and sadly, passed away shortly after birth. The Sorensen family and the MVH Foundation worked with RMHC Dayton to create an expanded family room in Emmett’s honor.
The RMFR is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Amenities include light meals, refreshments, laundry, toiletries, a sitting area, dining booth, and a charging station, among others.
Perinatal and NICU families are referred to the Ronald McDonald Family Room from their hospital unit. Families do not need to be a guest at the the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to utilize the RMFR. RMH families are also welcome to visit the RMFR inside Emmett’s Place at MVH.
