Expansion
Because families are stronger together.
Because families are stronger together.
The Ronald McDonald House is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night.
With the recent growth in pediatric healthcare specialties in our region, RMHC Dayton has seen a significant increase in demand for our services. In 2022 the Ronald McDonald House turned away 77% (963 families) due to a lack of availability.
In order to meet the increased need, RMHC Dayton is constructing a new 38,000 sq. ft. Ronald McDonald House consisting of three finished floors, a partial basement, ample communal space, and inviting outdoor recreation and respite space.
Upon completion, the Ronald McDonald House will have 42 guest rooms, enabling us to accommodate more families in need of safe and comfortable accommodations.
The new Ronald McDonald House will enable holistic, wraparound services that support family-centered care and help improve health outcomes for pediatric patients.
Get an inside look at our Expansion Project and sneak peek inside the new Dayton Ronald McDonald House as we talk with Chas Wiederhold from GBBN Architects! Chas shares what it means that the new House is being purpose-built and how the team looks at the House through the eyes of a child to ensure it meets the needs of our smallest guests and their families.
A lot of times, when we talk about the benefits of the new House, we use the term Right-Sized Rooms. But what does that really mean? Learn more as we talk to RMHC Dayton, Director of Philanthropy Beth Groff.
“RMHC Dayton supports families on their healthcare journey and empowers them to show up for their child, well-rested, well-nourished and able to thrive.” Learn more about how RMHC Dayton is an integral part of the continuum of pediatric care supporting the growing need for outpatient services in the Dayton area. We talked with Director of RMHC Dayton Programs, Cara Arnold, to learn about the need for our services and the impact we have on the families we serve.
“Imagine having to say to a family that I’m sorry we don’t have a room available tonight, we’re unable to help you on this healthcare journey.” We’re currently turning away more families than we’re serving. Learn more about our turnaway rate and how our new House will help us serve even more families in the near future as we talk with our Executive Director Rita Cyr.
